Patient
support groups have formed spontaneously on the Internet. It did not take
long to
recognize the need to organize the
information that flows continuously into these e-mail systems. To answer this need,
we first created Lymphoma Information at
Datafork. It allowed our group to post answers to frequently asked
questions to a central location.
With a website in place, it became easier
to provide answers to frequently asked questions. for example:
"You can find
information about PET scans on www.abc,."
Now we can also refine and verify the answers; provide
supporting references, add related topics and links to other resources.
From the website, it's easier to organize and present the issues, advocate
for change, . . . improve the system? Well that
still remains to be seen. : - )
Acknowledgments:
I thank our impromptu internet family for
providing near continuous help, inspiration, and education. Particularly,
I thank:
