Carol Lee, 60 ----

1/93--dx low grade subcutaneous MALT lymphoma (initially thought to be benign)
6/95--transformed to highly aggressive skin MALT and mixed large and small cells in lungs/

CHOPx6,/remission of aggressive but low-grade skin MALTrecurred immediately/
1/99-- MALT in one breast; 6/99 other breast./new dx Stage IVA, or recurrent, low-grade MALT/
1/99-- treated for H-Pylori (acquired HCV via blood transfusion in ’64); immunized against HepA&B/
10/99--malt surrounded one optic nerve and muscle of other eye, tx radiation/
2/00--dx now MALT which “looks Follicular, or small, well-differentiated, under the microscope”/
2/00--Rituxan X4, responded well

6/00, CT scans clear
8/00—Rituxan X4; this time it caused a flareup of my hepatitis C (from blood transfusion in 1964)

9/00—Began Rebetron HCV treatment (interferon alfa plus ribavirin) which continued for a year.

12-01—CT scans revealed enlarged mediastinal nodes.

3-01—Scans show slight improvement in nodes.

7-09-01-- neutropenic since starting the Rebetron, cut back to half doses of the interferon and 1000 mgs Ribavirin.)

Sept. 20-01—finished HCV treatment. 

Nov.—01—PET, CT show lesions in chest (mediastinal) and subcutaneously on the abdomen (palpable).

Feb. 2002--CT scans of orbits, chest, abdomen, pelvis: little change, I was put again on W&W.

March, 2002, went to Europe for two additional opinions on my case. 

June 12, 26/02—cataract surgeries, received lenses to correct for close vision.

July/02—have developed scar tissue at site of eye surgery; in 2 months will have laser removal of scar tissue

July/02— MRI Orbits and skull, and CT chest, abdomen, pelvis “unremarkable”.  Scans will now be yearly, until W&W changes to need for treatment.
